Movie recommendations
Movie recommendations that match your taste.
Lists of the best movies of the year are good for browsing. They can’t tell you whether one of them suits you tonight. Good movie recommendations start with the movies you have already seen and with what you liked about them, or didn’t.
How to find good movie recommendations
Start with movies you know. Three or four clear verdicts say more about your taste than a list of favourite genres. A crime movie you loved and one you switched off after twenty minutes show what matters to you: pace, humour, suspense or the characters.
Then think about what fits tonight. After a long working day you want a different movie than on a free Sunday afternoon. Length and mood narrow the choice faster than another list.
What a reason gives you
A recommendation without a reason is one you have to trust or check yourself. With a reason, you decide in seconds. If it says the movie suits you because you like calm science fiction and unusual ideas, you know straight away whether that is your evening. If the reason is off, you also know what to correct.
Why a “no” counts as much
What you dislike is part of your taste. If you only name favourites, you get picks that resemble them on the surface. A “Dislike it” draws a line, for example at too much violence, slow storytelling or too much sentiment. The more of those lines are known, the less often a miss ends up on your screen.
Three questions as filters
Three questions are often enough. Film or series? Short, or any length? Which mood? After that, a handful of titles is left to choose from.
Other services stay visible
A movie that fits you well and streams on another service is still a good recommendation. You can save it, watch it later or switch a subscription. So that title belongs in the selection, marked with where it streams.
How Tastemo does it
In Tastemo you rate movies you know with “Love it”, “Like it”, “It was okay”, “Dislike it” or “Don’t know it”. You can add a reason of your own. Mo, the AI companion in Tastemo, learns from every rating and, with your consent, writes for each pick why it suits you. Mo can be wrong, and your ratings correct it.
Filters for type, length, mood and services narrow the picks. “Short” means films up to 100 minutes. Titles on your services come first; titles on other services are marked. The same applies to series, see TV show recommendations.
You don’t have to chat for any of this. The AI works in the background and only with your consent; without it, Tastemo sorts by similarity. Your ratings go only to AI services for your picks, never for training. Picks from the existing catalogue are free; new research is limited on the free plan.
